Mazz left her degree in classical voice at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2015 to study hair and makeup artistry at The Iver Academy, where she developed a keen interest in face and body art under the tutorship of Mona Turnbull. After graduating she made this her main focus, as well as working in hair and makeup across fashion, film, TV and theatre. After finishing a production of ‘Cinderella’ at the London Palladium in January, Mazz competed in the Warpaint Makeup Championships at Pro Beauty London in the student category, judged by Paintopia’s Jennie Roberts and Catriona Finlayson with Brierley Thorpe. She was awarded second place for her political interpretation of the theme ‘Love Is All Around’, and will go on to compete in the pro category in October at Pro Beauty North.
This summer Mazz attended various workshops at the World Body Painting Festival, as well as painting for ‘The Zombie Crawl’ and ‘Body Circus’ side events. She has also been focussing on her business ‘The Pixie Tribe’ through which she provides hair, face and body art services at festivals and events. She will be demonstrating bodypainting at the ‘Live Late Craft Jam’ for Museums Sheffield in September.
With a Cornish Grandmother and Scottish ancestry, fairies and folklore were a big part of Mazz’s childhood, and we’re excited to hear she has taken inspiration for our event from this, and hopes to create a living fairy garden for us!
