Pauline Fowler

Pauline Fowler

Pauline is co-founder of award-winning makeup and creature FX studio Animated Extras. Her credits go back to ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and ‘The Witches’ for Henson’s Creature Shop before she established Animated Extras with Nik Williams at Shepperton Studios in 1986. Pauline has designed prosthetics and creature FX for a huge number of films including ‘Frankenstein’, ‘Resident Evil’, ‘Event Horizon’, ‘Stardust’, ‘Atonement’, ‘Cloud Atlas’, ‘Into the Woods’ and ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ and television shows such as ‘Outlander’, ‘Fortitude’ and over 80 episodes of ‘Silent Witness’. Animated Extras’ work on ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘The Shadow of the Vampire’ was Academy Award-nominated, and recently Pauline and the team won a RTS Award for their work on ‘Fortitude’.

Nick Dudman

Nick is one of the best-known names in the business; a multi-award-winning special makeup effects and prosthetics designer, producer and supervisor. He worked with Stuart Freeborn on the early ‘Star Wars’ films, a franchise he later returned to as Creature Effects Supervisor. He applied Tim Curry’s Darkness makeup for ‘Legend’, designed Jack Nicholson’s Joker makeup for ‘Batman’, supervised the prosthetics on ‘Judge Dredd’, and designed the creature effects for ‘The Mummy Returns’ – a few career highlights before he spent ten years heading up the makeup and creature effects for all eight of the ‘Harry Potter’ films. More recently, Nick was Makeup Effects Designer on ‘Penny Dreadful’, ‘Carnival Row’ and ‘The Wheel of Time’.

Bill Corso

Bill is an Academy Award and multiple Primetime Emmy Award-winner. He is regularly a personal makeup artist for actors such as Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman, and Jim Carrey, has worked with directors like J.J. Abrams, Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton, and makeup legends Rick Baker, Ve Neil and Steve Johnson. He has worked with Jim Carrey on 11 films, including ‘Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events’, for which he won his Oscar. He was Oscar-nominated for ‘Click’ in collaboration with Rick Baker, as well as ‘Foxcatcher’. Bill’s credits include ‘Batman & Robin’, ‘Planet of the Apes’, ‘Bruce Almighty’, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, ‘Deadpool’ 1 and 2, ‘Destroyer’, ‘Blade Runner 2049’, ‘Bombshell’, ‘Stars Wars: Episodes VII, VIII, and IX’ and ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’.

Jake Garber

Jake Garber

Jake is a 3-time Primetime Emmy-winner, a 2-time Makeup Guild Award-winner, an Academy Award nominee, and a personal makeup artist to Samuel L. Jackson, Ron Perlman and Walton Goggins. His credits include Makeup Artist for Samuel L. Jackson on ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’, ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’ and ‘The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey’, Makeup Artist for Ron Perlman on ‘Hellboy’, Special Makeup Department Head on ‘The Hateful Eight’, ‘Django Unchained’, ‘Inglourious Basterds’, ‘Creepshow’ and ‘The Walking Dead’. Jake has also been on camera in ‘Django Unchained’, ‘Inglourious Basterds’, ‘The Man with the Iron Fists’ and a number of times as a walker in ‘The Walking Dead’. Neill Gorton

Neill is a BAFTA-winning makeup FX designer and renowned teacher. Recently he’s created a character makeup for Kenneth Branagh as Boris Johnson in ‘This Sceptred Isle’, transformed Catherine Tate into Nan Taylor for movie ‘This Nan’s Life’, designed prosthetics for movies ‘John Wick 4’, ‘Toxic Avenger’, ‘Minamata’, ‘Boys from County Hell’, ‘Cobweb’ and ‘Zone 414’, and for TV: ‘Spitting Image’, ‘Worzel Gummidge’ and ‘Call the Midwife’. Currently, he’s working on ‘Foundation’ and ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’. He has also been working with online phenomenon Alexis Stone, and designing prosthetics for Coldplay’s ‘Trouble in Town’ promo. In 2020, Neill launched a Masters Degree in partnership with Falmouth University.

Alexis Stone

Alexis, aka Elliot Joseph Rentz, is a media powerhouse, visual artist, prosthetic makeup artist, cosmetics guru, and transcendental drag performer. Known for warping beauty standards and making people question what’s real and what’s fake, Alexis describes herself as, “Like Basic Instinct on steroids!” Her name is inspired by ‘Ugly Betty’ and Sharon Stone, and her physicality combines movie makeup, drag and hyper-femininity. Neill Gorton and Millennium FX have been delighted to work with Alexis on some of her projects, most recently to transform her into Mrs. Doubtfire, a character that has been a profound influence on her since childhood. Alexis and Neill will be re-creating this incredible makeup on the Main Stage.

Kate Walshe

Kate is a co-director of multi award-winning company Millennium FX. She has a wealth of experience as a designer and prosthetic FX producer having overseen numerous film productions including ‘Victor Frankenstein’, ‘The Titan’, ‘All is True’, ‘Ex Machina’, ‘Slaughterhouse Rulez’, ‘Kung Fury II’, ‘This Nan’s Life’, ‘Boys from County Hell’, ‘Expendables 4’, ‘Minimata’ and ‘Annette’. Paul Savage OBE

Paul Savage OBE

Paul has been a frontline Search and Rescue Clinician for 32 years and has treated countless casualties. Whilst Head of Medicine at the RNLI, he was desperate to improve casualty care training of UK volunteer Lifeboat crews, and got into medical moulage and SFX. His passion is to improve the realism of medical portrayal in the SFX world, for film, TV and medical simulation. Paul’s company, Saviour Medical, provides realistic simulation services to the 999 and elite military sectors, and education in accurate medical simulation. Paul will be on the Main Stage with Stuart Bray, reviewing the classic mistakes and paradigms of medical SFX and moulage, investigating how these can be corrected and why this is so important.

Todd Deberceni

Todd is from Colorado and is best known for writing the book ‘Special Makeup Effects for Stage and Screen, Making and Applying Prosthetics’, widely regarded as the modern makeup FX bible. With 40+ years in the entertainment industry, over 20 of those specialising in prosthetics, Todd is an in-demand teacher in the USA and overseas, including in Israel and China. He writes for Prosthetics Magazine and presents the podcast Battles with Bits of Rubber with Stuart Bray.

Stuart Bray

Stuart is a busy makeup FX artist with a huge amount of industry experience. His credits include ‘Saving Private Ryan’, ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’, ‘Shaun of the Dead’, ‘Dr Who’ and ‘Game of Thrones’. A highly technical practitioner, Stuart is also an internationally renowned teacher, constantly in demand to pass on his knowledge and always willing to share his skills. Stuart writes for Prosthetics Magazine and presents the podcast Battles with Bits of Rubber with Todd Debreceni.

Christopher Goodman

Chris is Millennium FX’s Concept Designer and heads up their busy digital department. Having been a professional creature concept artist for over seven years, he has worked on a range of high-profile film and television projects including ‘Minamata’, ‘The Forest’, ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Kung Fury 2’, ‘The Witcher’, ‘Annette’ and the new series of ‘Watchmen’’ and ‘Krypton’. Most recently he sculpted a giant Barbra Streisand head for Richard E Grant! Chris will be on the Education Stage at the Event, presenting a Digital Lab showing the techniques used by Millennium FX to digitally scan and 3D model for prosthetics and creature FX.

Joe Nazzaro

Joe is one of the world’s foremost authorities on makeup and makeup FX, with an unsurpassed knowledge of their use in film and television. He’s written for countless magazines over the past three decades, including Starlog, Fangoria, SFX, Makeup Artist Magazine and now Prosthetics, to which he’s contributed since the very beginning. Joe’s first book, a collaboration with Michael Westmore, was published in 1991, and his latest project- which will definitely be big news for all makeup artists- will be announced on the Main Stage.

Kate is a high-profile makeup designer who trained and worked at the BBC, then went on to movies such as ‘Hugo’, ‘Clash of the Titans’ and ‘Love Actually’. She has been nominated for Emmy, BAFTA and RTS awards eight times. Her recent credits include Makeup and Prosthetics Designer on the TV adaptation of ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’, and Makeup Designer on ‘The Royals’, ‘Fortitude’, ‘The Last Kingdom’, ‘Mars’ and the movie ‘Horrible Histories: The Romans’. Kate is also founder and co-owner of leading makeup shop PAM in West London.

Rebecca Butterworth

Rebecca is Director of Makeup for Millennium FX where she heads up teams of prosthetic makeup artists for shoots as well as handling actor transformations herself. She spent 17 years at fashion and beauty brand MAC where she was a senior artist creating makeup looks for events such as Paris Fashion week. After joining Millennium FX, she quickly established herself as a leading prosthetic makeup artist. Her TV credits include ‘The Witcher’, ‘Luther’, ‘Curfew’, ‘Year of the Rabbit’, ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Temple’ and feature film work on ‘This Nan’s life’, ‘Kung Fury 2’ and ‘Annette’. Recently Rebecca headed up the prosthetic makeup team transforming Sir Kenneth Branagh into Boris Johnson for ‘This Sceptred Isle’, currently in post-production.
